Opportunities for early career scientists - UK PlantSci 2015 & SET for BRITAIN

£3000 up for grabs at SET for BRITAIN 2015 - Deadline 5th December!

SET for BRITAIN is a poster competition for early-career research scientists, engineers and mathematicians hosted in Westminster. Andrew Miller MP is inviting applications to the competition.

SET for BRITAIN exists to raise the profile in Westminster of Britain's early-stage researchers by engaging Members of both Houses of Parliament with current science, engineering and mathematics research being undertaken in the UK, especially that by their local constituents and in their local University.

Poster presenters are at the early part of their career (MSc/PhD/ post-doc or similar) either in academia or in industry. Returners and those starting a second career are welcome.

Deadline for application is 17:00 on 5th December 2014.

UK PlantSci 2015

14-15 April 2015, Harper Adams University

The UK Plant Sciences Federation (UKPSF) has teamed up with SET for BRITAIN to invite two SET for BRITAIN finalists to speak at UK PlantSci 2015. The two finalists will receive free registration, accommodation and travel to attend the conference and will each be eligible to win one of two £200 prizes awarded to the best student and postdoc speakers in the Future Generations session. The deadline for SET for BRITAIN entries is 17:00 on 5th December 2014.

UK PlantSci is the annual conference of the UK Plant Sciences Federation (UKPSF) established to showcase the wealth of plant sciences in the UK. The meeting provides a unique forum for all those interested and working in the plant sciences to come together and share their knowledge and expertise. Session topics include: Plants and agriculture; Trees, forests and environmental change; Cells; Roots, soil, nutrients and water; and Ecology, environment and biodiversity. The programme also features a dedicated early career session, poster presentations and an open floor and panel discussion.
